AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 scores, schedule, live stream: Philippines reach semis; South Korea oust Australia

The 2022 AFC Asian Women’s Cup officially kicked off this month as 12 countries compete to lift the continental cup. Japan are the 2018 reigning champions, and several teams will compete for the title and five qualifying spots in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The tournament is hosted in India with matches played in three stadiums across the country. Fans can watch the entire 2022 AFC Women’s Cup on Paramount+.

The quarterfinals confirmed four of the five available World Cup slots with China, Japan, South Korea, and Philippines earning their spots with quarterfinal wins. Chinese Taipei, Thailand, and Vietnam have a shot at the final slot, with two of them will progressing to an inter-confederation play-off.

Philippines will make their World Cup debut in 2023, after advancing on penalty kicks against Chinese Taipei. A historic feat after the country narrowly missed the 2019 World Cup. Australia are eliminated from the Asian Cup, but have an automatic World Cup birth as hosts of the event in 2023. Tournament hosts India have withdrawn from the competition due to a string of positive cases of COVID-19.
