Indian Cricket Team registered a nervy victory over New Zealand in the 2nd T20I Match. The Men in Blue won the match by 6 wickets and squared the T20I Series. Skipper Hardik Pandya would be pleased with the performance of bowling unit as they never allowed any batter to settle down.
New Zealand would be utterly disappointed with their batters as there was not a single 20 runs partnership in the innings which is unacceptable in the modern cricket. The management perhaps should use Glenn Phillips lower down the order as the batter has looked in all sorts of trouble against spinners.
Suryakumar Yadav looked in complete control of the match and played according to the situation of the match. The batter scored 26 runs in 31 balls and surprisingly struck only 1 four. He along with Hardik Pandya formed a crucial match winning partnership of 31 runs as the duo took calculative risks.
The Men in Blue would have hoped for a comprehensive victory after reducing New Zealand for 99 runs. The management astonishingly promoted Washington Sundar to No.5 position where he scored 10 runs in 9 balls and had a terrible mix up between him & Suryakumar Yadav.
Adapting to the situation was very important- Suryakumar Yadav
During post match presentation, Suryakumar Yadav was asked about his performance. “A different version of SKY today. Adapting to the situation was very important when I went into bat. After losing Washy, it was important for someone to take the game till the end. (On Washington Sundar run out) It was my mistake, it was definitely not a run, I didn’t see where the ball was going.” said Suryakumar Yadav.
It was a challenging wicket- Suryakumar Yadav
“It was a challenging wicket. We didn’t think it’s turn this way in the second innings but it’s important to adapt. We just needed one hit in that over and it was very important to calm our nerves. Before we got the winning runs, he (Hardik) came and told me ‘you are going to finish on this ball’ and that gave me a lot of confidence.” he added.
