Indian Cricket Team won a nail bitter against Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I match. The Men in Blue won the match by mere 2 runs and Axar Patel successfully defended 13 runs off the last over. The management would be bothered as their star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was taken to the cleaners where he gave away 26 runs in 2 overs.
Kusal Mendis, the dashing right-handed batter would rue the fact that he couldn’t convert his start as he scored 28 runs in 25 balls where he smashed 5 fours. The management would make a tactical change by naming Avishka Fernando in the playing 11 as the batter has been making quite some runs in the domestic circuit.

Wasim Jaffer on Yuzvendra Chahal
Wasim Jaffer was having an interaction with ESPNcricinfo and was asked about Yuzvendra Chahal. “Dropping Yuzvendra Chahal for Washington Sundar would be a huge call since I believe there should be a wrist spinner in the playing XI. Even though Sundar provides balance to the side because of his batting as well as his powerplay bowling, I don’t think that a bowler like Chahal, who has delivered time and again, will be dropped after one bad outing. I think it is too early to consider making that change.” said Wasim Jaffer.
Concerns for India
India may have won the match but there was a rare failure of the top order. Deepak Hooda & Axar Patel provided the impetus at the back end of the innings and took India’s total to a challenging 162-5 as earlier the Men in Blue were in a spot of bother at 94-5.
There is uncertainty regarding Hardik Pandya as he didn’t bowl the 20th over citing cramps. Shivam Mavi, the debutant had a dream debut where he took 4 scalps and gave away 22 runs in his 4 overs. It would be interesting to see whether Arshdeep Singh is back into the playing 11 as he didn’t feature because of illness.
