Jason Kelce doesn’t want to hear a single word about a supposed retirement. It’s the furthest thing from his mind as the Philadelphia Eagles work to improve upon a season that saw them earn a playoff berth in their first season under head coach Nick Sirianni, and Sirianni is thrilled to know Kelce will be returning for the 2022 season — the four-time All-Pro center making the official announcement via the team’s official Twitter account on Thursday

And to reward his decision, on Friday, the Eagles have reportedly awarded him a one-year deal worth a robust sum of $14 million, per NFL Network, solidifying him as the highest paid in the league at his position.

The 34-year-old earned his fourth All-Pro nod in 2021 alongside a fifth Pro Bowl honor for his efforts in helping to anchor an Eagles offensive line that protected quarterback Jalen Hurts, and losing him would’ve created a massive void in front of their young quarterback. Kelce has never once suited up for another NFL team after being selected in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Eagles, and is a resident legend in Philadelphia.

Having not missed a single regular-season game since 2014, Kelce is as durable as it gets and was a key piece to the Super Bowl run made by the Eagles in 2017 — returning with hopes of repeating that success in 2022, albeit with a lot of new pieces around him.
