Indian Cricket Team registered a resounding victory over New Zealand in the 3rd ODI. The Men in Blue won the match by 90 runs and whitewashed New Zealand. Skipper Rohit Sharma finally ended his 3-year drought of centuries as the batter struck a century whereas Shubman Gill continued his purple patch as he smashed yet another century.
New Zealand would rue the fact that their middle-order batters couldn’t perform. There were huge expectations from Glenn Phillips but the batter was dismissed on 5 runs in 7 balls. The opener Devon Conway put up some fight as the batter scored 138 runs in 100 balls but wasn’t enough to avoid a defeat.
Shubman Gill smashed 360 runs in the ODI Series and was looking in sublime touch. The batter now has scored the joint-most runs by a batter as Pakistan’s Babar Azam had scored 360 runs. The batter in the 3rd ODI was quite aggressive in his approach which was quite fascinating to watch.
It won’t be wrong to say that Shubman Gill has booked his berth as an opener for ODI WC 2023. The batter has shown that he can play the waiting game which is priceless in the modern cricket. The batter would be aware of the fact that he needs to keep on scoring runs as Ishan Kishan is waiting for an opportunity.

It’s all about getting a start- Shubman Gill
“Just to be in the situation and looking to score helps convert those starts for me. Our bowlers bowled really well on this wicket.” he added.
