Indian Cricket Team registered a nervy 4-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI. India chased down the target of 216 with more than 6 overs left. KL Rahul & Hardik Pandya formed an invaluable partnership of 75 runs as earlier the Lankan pacers created havoc by reducing India to 86-4.
KL Rahul showed great mental application as one more wicket could have changed the complexion of the match. The wicket-keeper batter scored 64 runs in 103 balls where he smashed 6 fours. It won’t be wrong to say that KL Rahul has cemented his place in the team after this knock.

Sri Lankan batters weren’t able to pick Kuldeep Yadav’s deliveries as the left arm chinaman was bowling quite wicket to wicket. Kuldeep Yadav who came into the team in the place of injured Yuzvendra Chahal proved to be the ‘X’ factor for Men in Blue as he took 3 key wickets of Shanaka, Asalanka & Kusal and gave away 51 runs in 10 overs.
The skipper Rohit Sharma wouldn’t have thought that the match would get tough. The Men in Blue have been looking for a middle order batter for quite some time where the knock by both Hardik Pandya & KL Rahul proved to be quite invaluable in a below par chase of 216 runs.
I’m happy with my performance- Kuldeep Yadav
During post match presentation, Kuldeep Yadav was asked about his performance. “I’m happy with my performance. Whatever opportunities I get, I try to do my best and back my abilities. When you play, you have to be focused while you can be relaxed when you aren’t in the 11. At the moment, I’m really enjoying my bowling. However, team combinations are important, I don’t think too much about it, just focused on doing my best when the chances come.” said Kuldeep Yadav.
You need to keep innovating,- Kuldeep Yadav
“You need to keep innovating, you can’t keep bowling at the same pace. I’ve worked on my batting, I keep my focus on that whenever I don’t get a game. In the last one year, I’ve worked a lot also on my fitness, all credit to the NCA coaches. It has helped me get into a rhythm and be more aggressive. Yuzi has always supported me, obviously he knew how the batters play having played the earlier games so he keeps advising me.” Kuldeep Yadav added.
