Indian Cricket Team registered a nervy win over New Zealand in the 1st ODI at Hyderabad. The Men in Blue won the match by 12 runs where Michael Bracewell almost pulled off a heist. The Kiwi all-rounder played a magnificent knock of 140 runs in 78 balls where he struck 12 fours and 10 sixes.
The Black Caps would be utterly disappointed with their top-order performance as none of them got to a big score. It looked at one stage that New Zealand would lose the match by 100 odd runs where they were reduced to 131-6 in 28.4 overs where Indian bowlers were spot on with their line & length.
Earlier, Shubman Gill struck a thunderstorm double century as he scored 208 runs in 149 balls where he smashed 19 fours and 9 sixes. It looked as if Shubman Giikll was on a mission as he was whacking the bowlers all around the park and at the same time was quite keen on rotating the strike.
It won’t be wrong to say that Shubman Gill has booked his berth for World Cup 2023. We should not forget that this time Virat & Rohit were dismissed quite cheaply. The management would be delighted after seeing the performance of Shubman Gill where he showed immense mental application.
I was waiting eagerly to go out and do what I want to do- Shubman Gill
During post match presentation, Shubman Gill was asked about his performance. “I was waiting eagerly to go out and do what I want to do. With wickets falling, at times I wanted to unleash and I’m glad I could do it at the end. Sometimes when the bowler is on top, you need to make them feel pressure. Need to avoid dot balls, show some intent and hit hard into the gaps. Which is what I was doing.” said Shubman Gill.
Game went much more closer than I expected- Shubman Gill
“Wasn’t really thinking of 200, but once I hit sixes in the 47th over, I did feel that I could. Before that, I was playing what was coming to me. He (Kishan) is one of my best mates. I was there when he scored his ODI double hundred and it was special. It feels nice when you are wanting to do something and it is coming off on a regular basis. Definitely a sense of satisfaction. It (double ton) has sunk in pretty well. Game went much more closer than I expected.” he added.
