“I’m Completely In Favour Of Mankading, But Personally I Won’t Do It Because I Can’t Stop And Remove The Bails In My Run Up”

The International Cricket Council (ICC) changed the term “mankading” from “unfair play” to “run out” and “fair dismissal” in 2022. Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, has spoken up about his views on the controversial runout at the non-striker’s end and said he was fully in favour of the dismissal.
Mankading has grabbed a lot of attention recently, especially after the ICC legalized it. It came into the spotlight when Ravi Ashwin used it against Jos Buttler in the IPL in 2019. The Indian women’s team all-rounder Deepti Sharma ran out Charlotte Dean at the non-striker’s end during England’s tour. However, many cricketers consider it a cheap practice and don’t want to be associated with it.

It’s Too Much Effort And I Won’t Waste My Energy – Arjun Tendulkar
In an interview with Cricket Next, Arjun Tendulkar said that he is completely in favour of mankading. Arjun stated that he does not agree with those who call this dismissal method against the spirit of the game. However, he said that he won’t do mankading because he can’t stop and remove bails on his run-up.
“I’m completely in favour of Mankading. It’s in the Law. For the people who say it’s against the spirit of the game, I disagree,” Arjun Tendulkar said.

“I personally won’t do it because I can’t stop and remove the bails in my run-up. It’s too much effort and I won’t waste my energy in it but if someone does it, I’m in favour of it,” he added.
