Jasprit Bumrah and Shaheen Shah Afridi are arguably the two best bowlers in world cricket at the moment, and both pacers are the leaders of their respective countries’ bowling attacks. Former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq made a stunning statement about Bumrah and compared him with Afridi.
Jasprit Bumrah played his last T20I match against Australia at home, after missing the Asia Cup 2022. After bowling just six overs against Australia, he was ruled out not only for the entire series but also for the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022. The 29-year-old is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to regain his full fitness.
Abdul Razzaq, who is also a part of the Pakistan selection panel, said that Shaheen Afridi is a better bowler than Jasprit Bumrah while comparing both fast bowlers.
“Shaheen Afridi is way better than Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is nowhere close to Shaheen’s level,” the ex-cricketer told a local news channel on the sidelines of an event.
Meanwhile, Afridi also missed last year’s Asia Cup due to a knee injury. However, he returned for the T20 World Cup but injured his knee again while playing in the final of the tournament. His injury aggravated, forcing him to miss the rest of the season. He was recently spotted practicing in the nets in preparation for the Pakistan Super League and is expected to return there.
The former Pakistan all-rounder had previously said similar things about Bumrah in 2019. Razzaq called Bumrah a “baby bowler” and said that if he had been active, he would have dominated the Indian pacer.
“I have played against great bowlers like Glenn Mcgrath and Wasim Akram, so Bumrah is a baby bowler in front of me and I could have easily dominated and attacked him,” Razzaq had then said to Cricket Pakistan.
