The World Cricket is going to witness a riveting battle in the form of India vs New Zealand on 18th January (Wednesday). Skipper Rohit Sharma would be riding high on confidence after thumping the Lankan side in the ODIs by 3-0 as the Men in Blue were quite ruthless.
It won’t be wrong to say that New Zealand is not a favorite for this ODI Series as they don’t have the services of Trent Boult, Tim Southee, Jimmy Neesham & Kane Williamson. It would require a helluva of effort to win against invincible Men in Blue.
Rohit Sharma on Mohammed Siraj
Rohit Sharma was seen attending press conference and was asked about Mohammed Siraj. “He is a very important player for us. He has improved his line and length a lot in the last two years. Now we are getting to see his outswing. He was not known for his swing but he did that against Sri Lanka. That is very good for the team if he can do that with the new ball consistently.” said Rohit Sharma.
“He understands his bowling a lot better now which is a big thing in my view. He also knows what the team wants from him. All in all, he has become a very good bowler for us. He can take wickets in all phases and we need bowlers like him. We need to manage him and keep him fresh for the World Cup as well as the upcoming Tests against Australia.” he added.
Rohit Sharma on Shardul Thakur
Rohit Sharma was asked whether Shardul Thakur get a chance against New Zealand. “You want to play your best eleven at the end of the day. Number 8 and 9 is going to be a challenge for us, someone who can bat at that point. That is why we got Shardul in, he can give us that edge at No 8.” said Rohit Sharma.
Shardul Thakur has the knack of picking wickets at crucial stages of the match. He can be the ‘X’ factor for team India as he bowls quite straight. The management can also use him as a pinch hitter as he he can play a breezy cameo for the team.
