Indian Cricket Team was asked to bat first by New Zealand in the 3rd ODI. The Men in Blue posted a gigantic total of 385-9 where all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Skipper Rohit Sharma & the rising batter Shubman Gill smashed terrific centuries and laid a solid foundation for the team.
In response to 386 runs, Devon Conway struck a scintillating century and scored 138 runs in 100 balls where he hit 12 fours and 8 sixes. Henry Nicholls got a start but he couldn’t convert into a big one. Devon Conway couldn’t get support from the rest of the batting line up.
Rohit Sharma Takes A Stunner
At the end of 38 overs, New Zealand’s score was 277-7 where Mitchell Santner was on18 runs in 18 balls whereas Lockie Ferguson’s score was 5 runs in 7 balls. Kuldeep Yadav was given the 39th over, on the 5th ball of the over Kuldeep bowled a leggie where Lockie Ferguson top edged and Rohit Sharma from nowhere took a running catch at short midwicket. New Zealand’s score at that time was 279-8.
Clinical Performance from India
The Men in Blue didn’t panic when Henry Nicholls & Devon Conway formed a huge partnership of 106 runs. The management would be pumped up after seeing the performance of Shardul Thakur as the right arm speedster provided 3 crucial breakthroughs of Daryl Mitchell, Tom Latham & Glenn Phillips in one spell.
New Zealand would rue the fact that they couldn’t form partnerships as it was just a matter of one more big partnership which could have taken the game closer. The Black Caps though would be happy that Devon Conway hit form as he was looking ominous.
