India beat Sri Lanka by four wickets in the second One-Day International at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Thursday (January 12). The Men in Blue took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Sri Lankan head coach Chris Silverwood praised India for handling the pressure despite losing four early wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj took three wickets each as India bowled out Sri Lanka for 215 runs. The Men in Blue lost four wickets early in the chase, but KL Rahul led the chase with a match-winning half-century and forged key partnerships with Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. “Credits to Indian side way they hold pressure. We (Sri Lanka) play spin well, but in this match, we did not. We didn’t do well. Obviously, we need to do better with the bat. We can’t keep losing wickets. Senior players need to play a part. It’s a bit fair that India has done good after 4 wickets fell. If we got a couple of wickets before it will be good for us. We need to maintain that pressure,” Silverwood said in the post-match press conference.
