Michael Clarke Preparing For A Major Commentary Hit As The Repercussions From The Noosa Park Altercation Develops- Reports

With ex-captain Michael Clarke poised to be replaced, Indian cricket authorities are apparently searching for another former Australian player to commentate the Aussies’ forthcoming Test series against India.

Following the release of the video last week showing Clarke’s public argument with his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough in Noosa, the consequences for Clarke have continued.

Michael Clarke Having No Contact With BCCI, Gets Offer From PSL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which will be hosting the eagerly awaited Australian tour starting on February 9, was said to be rethinking its decision to have Clarke join its commentary team last week, according to a report.

On Monday afternoon, The Age ran an article stating that the BCCI was now looking for another former player to take Michael Clarke’s position and play the TV role. The second former Australian player scheduled to contribute to the commentary is Matthew Hayden.

Minutes afterward, The Daily Telegraph claimed that Indian cricket executives had been “having secret talks” with former Australian players regarding possible Clarke successors. When approached by both newspapers, the BCCI declined to comment. While Fox Cricket will broadcast the four-Test series, the BCCI names TV commentary teams for series that take place in India before selling the rights to broadcasters.

According to The Daily Telegraph, since the video of him in Noosa went viral, neither the BCCI nor the Indian cricket body has contacted Clarke. On Monday morning, Clarke returned to the radio airways with The Big Sports Breakfast, although he hardly touched on the violence captured on camera.

Additionally, he made no mention of his commentary work in India, but he did say that he had just been asked to commentate on the next Pakistan Super League T20 tournament.

“You should see the internationals they’ve got,” Clarke said of the PSL on The Big Sports Breakfast. “So many overseas players are going and playing in that tournament.”

Michael Clarke Apologizes For The Incident

Yarbrough made a reference to Michael Clarke’s upcoming trip to India in their shouting fight, implying that Clarke had invited his ex-girlfriend Pip Edwards to travel with him.

“You want to send her to India with you?” Yarbrough can be heard screaming in the video.

“‘You’re the love of my life Pip, come with me to India’.”

A bystander captured the incident between Clarke and Yarbrough in Noosa, with TV anchor Karl Stefanovic seen attempting to diffuse the situation. Following the release of the clip, Queensland Police fined Clarke and Yarbrough for causing a public disturbance. As The Daily Telegraph released the footage, Clarke apologized.

“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable,” Clarke said last week.

“I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.”
