Odell Beckham Jr. free agency 2022: Super Bowl-winning WR says surgery on torn ACL ‘was a success’

Talk about a roller-coaster ride for Odell Beckham Jr. The veteran wide receiver went from a toxic divorce from the Cleveland Browns to a key weapon in the deep playoff run for the Los Angeles Rams, only to suffer a torn ACL early on in Super Bowl LVI against the Cincinnati Bengals. A visibly emotional Beckham would go on to hoist the first Lombardi Trophy of career nonetheless, but the injury couldn’t have come at a worse time — the 29-year-old set to become an unrestricted free agent on the heels of an otherwise potent season.

It’s uncertain the impact his injury will have on potential suitors in March, but Beckham wants everyone to know he’s not only already undergone surgery to repair his torn ACL, but that all went well and he’s looking forward to getting back on the field in 2022.

“The stars are all aligned; surgery was a success,” he wrote on Instagram. “Like I’ve said all along, ‘IT WAS WRITTEN.’ I’m just sticking to the script and seeing where God will take me. Honestly, I’ve been through so much to get to where I’m at.”

His latest injury is actually not a completely new one, having torn the same ACL roughly a year and a half ago.

“I dug deep, and figured out a lot about myself along the way,” Beckham said. “If there’s one thing I can take from all the work and growth, it is that I AM as resilient as they come. Too much heart to not keep walking in faith! I know y’all probably tired of hearing me say this every year now ‘this my year’, BUT I’M GON’ BE BACK!!!

“You better believe [I’m gonna] be back, and [I’m gonna] be back better than ever before. I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Filled wit LOVE and gratitude. I wanna thank u all for the love and support, this is not the end, but only the beginning to everything I’ve ever dreamed of. LUV.”

Adding a huge positive to the aforementioned coaster ride is the fact Beckham and his girlfriend, Lauren Wood, also welcomed the birth of their child, Zydn, less than a week after he became an NFL champion.

“2-17-22, 0605. THE biggest blessing I’ve ever had in my life arrived here on earth!” Beckham said. “The words, I can’t even put together for the overwhelming emotions that ran thru me … a moment I will never forget and cherish forever. Zydn was born and at that moment I knew my life changed for the better. Lauren Wood, u changed my life forever and delivered the most beautiful gift of all… EFFORTLESSLY!

“Your strength throughout this gives me the courage to keep going because i now know with you by my side and holding it down for me, I can get through anything. I love u so much.”

Beckham’s entire NFL career has been a journey filled with ups and downs, but lately far more of the former. He’ll simply need to overcome one of the latter, yet again, to prove that what he put on film for the Rams in 2021 wasn’t his unofficial swan song — from a production standpoint.

And he’s champing at the bit to do just that.
