The family of the 25-year-old India National Cricket Team wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has reportedly expressed concern over the cricketer not getting sufficient time to rest because of a flood of visitors.

Pant is currently undergoing treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun after a horrific road accident. The accident happened in the early hours of Friday when he was driving from Delhi to Roorkee. Pant’s Mercedes Benz car collided with the divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway and then turned a few times before catching fire. He has suffered several injuries, but he is currently stable.

The family members of Rishabh Pant and the medical staff of Dehradun’s Max Hospital have repeatedly complained about the frequent presence of visitors. Pant’s family said that people are coming in to meet him “irrespective of the prescribed visiting hours”.

Notably, actors Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor, cricketer Nitish Rana, Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar, and local administration officials are among those who have paid a visit to Pant.

A medical team member taking care of Rishabh Pant’s treatment, in a conversation with TOI on Sunday, January 1, said that it is important that the Indian cricketer gets enough time to rest both physically and mentally and people should refrain from visiting him.

“It is important that Rishabh gets sufficient time to rest, not just physically but mentally too. He is still in pain due to the injuries sustained in the accident. He has to speak to visitors, which drains his energy that should be preserved for faster recovery. People planning to visit him should avoid it for now and let him rest.”

A medical staff member at the hospital’s administrative wing, meanwhile, said (as quoted by TOI):

“There is no mechanism in place to filter visitors for Pant. Hospital visiting hours are from 11am to 1pm and 4 pm to 5 pm and only one visitor can meet a patient at any given time. Rishabh Pant’s case is a high-profile one due to which more visitors are streaming in and hence this problem.”
