Sanjay Manjrekar Selects His Favorite ODI Batter Of All Time
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has chosen Vivian Richards as his favourite ODI player of all time, passing over India’s two greatest batsmen, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Many people consider Tendulkar to be the best batter of all time due to his record-breaking performances in ODIs and Test matches.
During his illustrious career, he achieved 100 international centuries, and right now Kohli appears to be the only player with a chance to duplicate the feat. To match Tendulkar’s total, the 34-year-old still needs 26 centuries.

Since making his ODI debut, Kohli has consistently performed well with the bat, amassing 12,773 runs at an average of 57.79 and is among the top 5 ODI run scorers of all time. To surpass Tendulkar’s record of the most ODI centuries, he needs four more centuries.
Manjrekar believes that while Kohli is without a doubt the best ODI batter of the past 20 years, Viv Richards still tops the all-time list.
“When you look at the modern age, the last 20 years or so, Virat Kohli is right up there. Tendulkar is also considered one of the all-time greats. In my opinion, Virat Kohli is only a one-day player. Another guy who comes to mind is MS Dhoni,” Sanjay Manjrekar stated to Star Sports.

“But, all-time one-day batter, there is nobody who can get close to Sir Vivian Richards. Now, this might seem a little old-fashioned,” Sanjay Manjrekar added.
“The second-best in his era was second-best by a long way”: Sanjay Manjrekar
Manjrekar emphasized Richards’ playing records and stated that there was a significant gap between him and the second-best performer of his time.
“Viv Richards played from the 70s to the 90s in a time when all top-class batters, people like Gordon Greenidge averaged about 30 and strike rate in the 60s. Viv Richards, from the 70s to the 90s, including a World Cup final hundred, averaged 47 and a strike rate of 90. The second-best in his era was second-best by a long way,” Sanjay Manjrekar stated to Star Sports.
Kohli is currently with the Indian team for their three-match home ODI series vs New Zealand. The host grabbed a series-clinching 2-0 victory on Saturday in Raipur.
