“There Is A Huge Amount Of Talent In The Team And Players Are Able To Cover A Lot Of Bases”

England have adopted an aggressive approach to white-ball cricket since former captain Eoin Morgan took over in 2015. The Three Lions won the 50-over World Cup on home soil in 2019. The Jos Buttler-led team won the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, becoming the first team in cricket history to hold two white-ball championships.

The aggressive brand of cricket is one of the reasons England have dominated limited-overs cricket in recent years. They became the second team to win the T20 World Cup title twice after the West Indies, after winning the title last year. England will play 13 ODI matches before trying to defend their ODI World Cup title in India in October this year.

Clarity And Confidence Are So Important – Joe Root

Former England Test captain, Joe Root believes that their strong batting line-up is the key to their success in white-ball cricket. Root said that they need to move forward as a cohesive team, gain confidence, and develop as a team.

“Clarity and confidence are so important. You look at the white-ball teams. The amount of strength in depth that we have, the number of players we have. They come into the team and perform from the word go. A big reason for that is there is great competition. There is a huge amount of talent in the team and players are able to cover a lot of bases. In Test cricket, everyone goes out there and plays at the moment,” Joe Root said.

“It is going to be a great opportunity for us next month. We’re going to New Zealand. Hopefully, we can replicate what we’ve done so far in those conditions and grow and develop further as a team. We just have to keep looking to grow with confidence, keep evolving as a group and adding it all together, like we have done so far, and keep taking big steps forward as a team,” he added.

Joe Root is now playing for the Dubai Capitals in the International League T20 (ILT20) 2023. He is the fifth-highest run scorer with 214 runs in just five innings at an average of 53.50 and a strike rate of 134.59 with two back-to-back 80-plus knocks.
