The coin landed in the favour of Mitchell Santner and the New Zealand National Cricket Team opted to bat first in the match. The BlackCaps fielded an unchanged playing XI, but the Men In Blue made a change to the playing XI, including Yuzvendra Chahal in the place of Umran Malik.

Hardik Pandya opened the attack against the Kiwi openers – Devon Conway and Finn Allen – and conceded 6 runs in the over. Washington Sundar bowled a 4-run second over and Pandya bowled an 11-run third over.

In the end, the equation came down to 6 runs off the last over, which was bowled by Blair Tickner. The Men In Blue needed 3 runs off 2 balls when Suryakumar Yadav hit a four to take India past the finish line with one ball remaining. Captain Hardik Pandya scored 15* runs while vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 26* runs.

Here’s How Twitter Reacted To India vs New Zealand 2nd T20I:
No sixes but nonetheless a thrilling match. New Zealand fought valiantly to defend 100 with 17 overs of spin but in the end @surya_14kumar and @hardikpandya7 fought it out and a good win for team India. With the series level 1-1 , should be a cracker of a decider at Ahmedabad. pic.twitter.com/oTeH05noye

Great day for Indian cricket today. After our girls beat England to clinch the title, #TeamIndia defeated New Zealand in a low scoring match in Lucknow. Congratulations boys for the fabulous game. @BCCI

— Johns. (@CricCrazyJohns) January 29, 2023
Sorry, but it was a poor pitch. It deserves a demerit point in my view. These are the kind of pitches we have seen in CPL 2020 and Bangladesh. Not fit for T20 cricket. https://t.co/dKMmaE5beh

New Zealand bowled exceptionally. Making a game out of a small target against India. They took the game till the last over!

No Arshdeep today to cry and whine over for 🤡
Those who are against Arshdeep Singh will be silent because in Today’s match he is highest wicket taker for India. In 2 he took 2 wickets for just 8 runs. Out of total 99 that Newzealand scored against India.. #INDvNZ— AKDhillon (@kauraverjit) January 29, 2023
What a useless match 😂

SKY to the rescue, yet again! A strange T20 game. Batsmen were well tested. India win the battle of attrition. Barring a few panic moments, they saw their team home.
I’ll definitely not complain about the pitch. Batsmen can’t have road everyday. #INDvNZ
