Meanwhile, the left-handed opening batsman Ishan Kishan was expected to perform well in the huge run-chase, but he failed miserably with the bat and only managed to contribute 2 runs off 5 deliveries.

Kishan was bamboozled by Rajitha on the first ball of the second over itself. The 29-year-old pitched the ball up and it swung back in sharply. Kishan went for a wild slog across full delivery, missed it completely and the ball rattled the stumps.

Losing the toss and batting first Sri Lanka National Cricket Team posted a humongous 206/6 on the board. Earlier, Sri Lanka openers Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka provided their side with a brilliant start.

The 32-year-old leggie Yuzvendra Chahal got the first breakthrough for India by dismissing Mendis for 52 in the 9th over. Then, Indian bowlers made an impressive comeback in the match by picking wickets at regular intervals and restricted Sri Lanka to 138/6 in 16 overs.

However, in the last 3 overs, Dasun Shanaka annihilated the Indian bowling attack and helped his side post 206/6 on the board. This was the first time Sri Lanka scored 200+ in a T20I game against India since January 2010. Also, overall this was the first time Sri Lanka scored 200+ in a T20I match against any opponent since 2018.
