BCCI on WPL Auction
According to the reports, the WPL Auction would take place in the first week of February. The Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to commence from 10th February. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal was asked about the WPL. “With regard to [the venues for the] first season, we are still talking. That is work in progress. We will have to see logistical challenges involved in case it [WPL] has to be multi-city value or single-city value,” said Arun Dhumal.
Exciting WPL Ahead
BCCI has allowed 5 overseas players in the playing 11 out of which 1 needs to be from Associate nation which would make the contests interesting. The franchises would have a purse of 12 Crores to pick a squad and this league is assumed to be the next big thing in the Women’s Cricket.
The BCCI must go for multiple city venues as it will attract a lot of audiences and at the same time there would be competitive wickets which would make the contest even. BCCI would be hoping that the Women in Blue get accustomed to tricky scenarios & conditions where they have been struggling in ICC tournaments.
